Boys & Girls Club says thank you

On behalf of the Boys & Girls Club of Jasper County, we would like to thank the community for coming out and supporting the third annual Taste of Jasper. Once again, the food received rave reviews and our wine and beer tasting added a cosmopolitan air.

Each year we are in awe at the number of items our food vendors prepare for our tasting menu as well as the effort put forth to decorate their stalls. Without their generous heart, this event could not happen. We have a special shout out to Chelsea Plantation, Fiddler's Seafood, J & N Catering and Jack Frost for participating all three years. Fraser's Catering and Dot's Red Dot are in their second year and Hawg Wild, Jasper's Chicken Shak, Jasper's Porch, Kelly's Tavern, McDonald's, Palm Key, Time 4 Pizza and September Oaks Vineyards were first time participants. We welcome our new participants and look forward to working with them in the future.

The second aspect of our event is the silent and live auction which is the culmination of months of hard work by a small number of devoted board members. They work hard every year to bring quality items to the auction block and we thank the many persons and businesses who have donated to the cause.

We also would like to thank our many sponsors who help defray the cost of putting on such an event. Without their generosity we could not have cleared over $31,000 for the club. Our platinum sponsors this year were WTOC, The Ridgeland Police Department, Jasper County Council, 98.7 the River, Jasper County Sun, Bluffton Today and Palmetto Electric. Gold sponsors were Danny Henderson and Amazing Event Rentals. Silver sponsors were Exit Realty Unlimited, Gaylor, Inc, the Attorneys of the Jasper County Bar Association, and SCB&T. The Bronze sponsors were AgSouth Farm Credit, Al's Wrecker Service, Aussie Auto, Theodus L. Drayton, Crosby Logging, Deborah A. Malphrus-Attorney at Law, Farm Bureau, Handy Dan's, Hubert Tyler, iTraffic Safety, Marion Burns, Nimmer Turf, Old South Exterminators, Owens Supply, Ridgeland Family Dentistry - Earl Bostick, Sr. DMD and Assoc iates, Sherrod and Lynda Moorehead and State Farm Insurance - Tommy Rhodes Agency. Friends of the Boys & Girls Club were Dean Bell, Tricia Etheridge, M.D., Donnie and Judy Malphrus, Linda Davenport, Main Street Pharmacy, Pete Hall, Sheffield Oil Company, S. E. Palazzolo, Kim Malphrus and Drs. Jantana and Chatchaval Vuthiganon.

Finally, we would like to thank our many volunteers. Each year the event grows and more and more are needed to ensure a fun and safe evening. We are already hard at work planning our fourth annual Taste of Jasper. We heard your feedback about the heat so we're looking forward to holding the 2011 Taste of Jasper on April 30, so mark your calendars.

Sincerely,
Boys & Girls Club of Jasper County Board of Directors
